Traceability Barcodes and Digital MTRs for Steel Pipe

Locusview will be demonstrating a new tool to enable material traceability for steel pipe. The demonstration will include an application for pipe mills and coating mills to create and print barcodes and upload digital Material Test Reports (MTRs) based on consensus-driven industry standards. The demonstration will also show how operators can scan the barcode and retrieve asset traceability data and the digital MTRs.

In 2022, API published a Recommended Practice to provide specifications for the transfer of digital material test report (MTR) data from pipe manufacturers to pipeline operators. This presentation will provide the results of a pilot implementation with a steel pipe mill, including applying traceability barcodes that link to a digital standardized MTR dataset.
